Who I Am
“Like all of us, I have been and still am many things, a whole with many parts, still evolving and becoming. I am a mother of five, a grandmother of four. My first college degrees were in environmental science and ecology. I continue to find great solace in nature and am troubled by the changes I see.
Different family members’ struggles with addiction and mental illness led me to volunteering in addiction treatment advocacy and ultimately to change my career. While working on my Masters degree in social work (MSW), I received a fellowship to interview parents of overdose victims. Our country’s addiction and overdose public health emergency is a continuing concern close to my heart.
I am the daughter of a poet and I also maintain a practice of journaling and writing poetry, which I find both healing and rewarding. I am learning how to share this practice with others. I have always loved to paint and make things with my hands.
Since graduating with my MSW, I have worked in hospice, in a psychiatric inpatient setting, in the outpatient department of a county mental health agency and in the private practice of others. The opening of Sand Path Counseling is the fulfillment of a decades-long dream and next stage in my journey.”

My Approach
My approach to psychotherapy is influenced by my interests, informed by education and life experience, infused by gratitude and a desire to understand the fellow souls who journey with me or have crossed my path.
